אף כי העימות בין המתנחלים חסידי הציונות הגאולית לבין אזרחים חסידי הציונות המדינית נדחה עקב הקפאת תכנית ההתכנסות, הכין לו ד"ר גדי טאוב טיעונים. עם אהדה מסוימת למתנחלים וסלידה מסוימת מהשמאל, הוא מסביר מדוע המתנחלים חייבים לוותר על מפעל החיים שלהם ולשוב אל גבולות הקו הירוק (מתוך המאמר).
