המונח "פלאולית תיכון" מתייחס לאתרים ומכלולים שגילם נע בין 270 ל-50 אלף שנה לפני זמננו. פרק זמן זה מתאפיין במפגשים בין אוכלוסיות אדם שונות, חלקן מקומיות ואחרות שהגיעו מאפריקה או מאירופה, שעיצבו את התרבות החומרית.
