Abstract
העולם אולי הופך חם וצפוף, אך בהחלט לא שטוח. למרות הגלובליזציה, למרות הטכנולוגיה ורשת האינטרנט, הפערים רק מתרחבים. הכלכלה הגלובלית הולידה ערי ענק שמניעות את הייצור והצריכה העולמיים. מיליוני בני אדם נעים ברגע זה מבתיהם אל ערים אלו, בניסיון נואש למצוא פרנסה. רובם יישארו בשכונות העוני ללא כל תקווה (מתוך המאמר).
