Abstract
The paper analyzes the discourse of condemnation following October 7 as a means to understand Israelis’ feelings toward domestic and international actors who allegedly failed to morally respond to the massacre. I argue that the demand for condemnation grows out of a wish to find some order in a frightening and chaotic world and its shortcomings are evident in the rash and emotional judgment of those responding to the demand.
