המאמר מתאר מודל הידרולוגי שעל פיו הייתה אפשרית תנועה של מים מלוחים שנוצרו לפני כ-5-6 מיליון שנים בים סדום העתיק מערבה, לכיוון הים התיכון. שרידי מים אלה נמצאו בתת-הקרקע בקידוחי נפט עמוקים בעומק של קילומטרים אחדים באזור הנגב הצפוני
