Abstract
Simultaneous measurements of the ε mechanism [1] of the photorefractive effect and the photochromic effect are presented. The results substantiate the hypothesis that a charge transfer from one type of an impurity center or defect to another can cause a photorefractive effect produced by a metastable change in the dielectric constant.
