Abstract
1,4,5,8-Tetrabenzoylnaphthalene (XII) gives with hydrazine 1,2,5,8-tetraphenyl6,7-diazacyclohept[fg]acenaphthylene (XIV). 1,8-Dibenzoylnaphthalene (XVI), on the other hand, is converted under the same conditions to 1,2-diphenylacenpahthylene (XVII). The theoretical implications of these findings are discussed.
