Abstract
A one-dimensional model for water, due to Bell, is extended to aqueous solutions of a simple solute. The pair correlation function for two solute particles at adjacent sites is computed as a funtion of the molecular and the thermodynamic parameters of the system. A phenomenon similar to the hydrophobic interaction, observed in real acqueous solutions, may be simulated by this model.
