Abstract

A rapid, convenient, and highly sensitive fluorometric assay for α-chymotrypsin is suggested. The assay is based on the direct recording of the emission intensity of β-naphthol liberated by enzymic hydrolysis of ZPNE. Microquantities down to 5 × 10-2 ng of α-chymotrypsin are easily assayed. The advantage and applicability of this assay to biological preparations are discussed.
