Abstract

A new approach is presented to explain the formation of adsorbed oxygen species on the surface of non-stoichiometric yttrium oxide. The ESR signals formed at different pressures and temperatures on the oxides with different history, are explained by surface state complexes, s1O-2, s2O-2, s1O2. The identification of O-2 was by using 17O enriched oxygen.
