Abstract

Passive and active waveguides were prepared using the sol-gel method by copolymerization of titanium alkoxides and an organically modified silicate. Active waveguides were prepared by doping with rhodamine 6G and lumogen LFR 300. Significant spectral narrowing at a threshold energy of 40 μJ was observed. Amplification of HeNe guided laser beam in the excited film of lumogen LFR 300 doped waveguide was demonstrated. The preparation of the waveguides, their characterization, and their laser properties are described.
