'Al Kanfei Yonah: Collected studies of Jonas C. Greenfield on semitic philology

This volume contains most of the articles of the late Jonas C. Greenfield written in English. Greenfield published numerous studies in a wide range of journals, some of them obscure. He himself had begun to collect all his papers, with the aim of revising and publishing them, when his sudden death intervened. It is the privilege of the editors to present to the public this collection, highlighting the wealth and creativity of his scholarship. A full bibliography of Greenfield's writing appeared in the Festschrift of which he saw a proof copy just before his death.1 Articles that were not yet in print are listed in the "Supplement to the Bibliography of Jonas C. Greenfield" at the end of this book. Technical considerations have led us to exclude a number of papers from this collection.
