Abstract

1. (1) A simple method is described which allows a systematic reduction of a network of bidirectional chemical reactions to an equivalent unidirectional network. 2. (2) The method allows the flux equations describing the Sow of substrate through a network of reactions to be solved. 3. (3) The method is applied to a particular form of the co-transport model, the case in which one member of the pair of substrates always binds first to the carrier - the ordered reaction model. 4. (4) This model is solved for the general case where no assumptions need be made as to the equilibrium nature of the system nor as to its symmetry.
