Abstract
At the center of this article is a transcript of the discussion leading to an exchange marriage agreement made in 1978 by members of the Aḥaywāt tribe in central Sinai. They arrange for two males each to marry the other’s sister. The text is given in Arabic together with an introduction, English translation, notes, and a commentary. The article begins with some general remarks about exchange marriage, and is concluded with a glossary.
