Abstract
The paper presents a case study of sediment sources and sediment transport by overland flow along arid hillslopes. It is conducted at an experimental site which covers one half of a first order drainage basin extending on one side of the channel. The drained area is subdivided into 16 runoff and sediment plots, 9 of which are equipped with automatic stage recorders and sediment samplers. Runoff and sediment generated at the upper part of slopes 60-70m long usually fail to reach the slope base. Sediment removed can be partially related to burrowing and digging activity of desert animals that provide disaggregated soil particles easy to remove by shallow low energy flows.-from Authors
