Abstract
Algebraic treatments of the local-mode-normal-mode transformation of the stretching modes of an ABA triatomic molecule are given in terms of a U(4) X U(4) description and an SO(4) description. The results provide a means for treating Darling-Dennison coupling of normal modes in a fully anharmonic basis.
