Abstract

The distribution of dioxouranium(VI) (uranyl) ions at low concentrations between Dowex-IX8-Cl and solutions of hydrogen chloride in methanol, ethanol and 2-propanol (iso-propanol) was studied under nearly completely anhydrous conditions, and in the presence of 1% by volume of water. The results are consistent with the presence in the external solutions of UO2Cl+, UO2Cl2 and ion-paired H+UO2Cl3-, and in the resin phase of UO2Cl2 (not reacting with R+Cl- or H+Cl-) as the main uranyl species.
