Abstract

The diffusion of water into unidirectional Kevlar-49-fibre-reinforced epoxy resins was studied. The anisotropic diffusion behaviour of the fibres was studied in particular. The effects of fibre angle on moisture diffusivity, and that of volume fraction on equilibrium weight gain, were investigated, and the diffusion coefficients of the composite along the fibre and transverse to the fibre were established.
