Anomalous proximity effect in gold coated (110) YBa2Cu 3O7-δ films: Penetration of the andreev bound states

Abstract

The penetration of Andreev bound states (ABS) with exhibition of anomalous proximity effect (PE) in gold coated (110) YBa2iCu3iO films was analyzed using scanning tunneling spectroscopy. It was observed that while proximity-induced mini-gaps rarely appears in the Au layer, the ABS penetrate into the metal. The zero bias conductance peaks were measured on Au layers, which were thinner than 7 nm with a magnitude similar to those detected on the bare superconductor films. the results show abrupt decay of the peaks with Au thickness and disappear above 10 nm.
