Abstract
Drugs which, when implanted into the hypothalamus, abolish the water intake of rats, also suppress eating. Regular supply of saline by intraperitoneal injection does not influence the aphagia. Therefore the latter represents an independent, non-specific action of substances which inhibit active sodium transport.
