Abstract
Resonance energies of non-alternant annulenoannulenes and corannulenes have been calculated. The aromatic character of the former appears to be dominated by their periphery, in contrast to the behavior of the alternant annulenoannulenes. For the corannulenes no simple systematic behavior is apparent. Kekulene and many compounds of similar structure are predicted to be aromatic regardless of their inner and outer peripheral circuits.
