Abstract

Responses in painting and sculpture to the Nazi persecution of the Jews began in the early 1930s, when artists reacted to Adolf Hitler rise to power and early discriminatory measures. They were continued during the period of the Holocaust, and they continue unabated to this day. The art involved can be divided into different categories, dependent on the status of the artist, the goals set forth and the style.
