Abstract
A general, simple symmetrization reaction for the preparation of various diarylmercury compounds has been developed. This symmetrization process enables low-cost production of diarylmercury compounds which are useful materials both as laboratory and industrial substances. Diarylmercury compounds are important in the manufacture of textiles, jute and leather as agents against attack by bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms. These compounds are also used as starting materials in the preparation of organometallic compounds.
