Abstract
The band structure of waveguide arrays was investigated experimentally and realized linear and nonlinear propagation in higher bands using two types of geometries. As such, the Floquet-Bloch approach was used to analyze the experimental observations, both in the linear and the nonlinear regimes. Floquet-Bloch solitons were observed, and shown to be a generalization of discrete solitons, for higher array bands.
