Abstract
Calxyl was applied to the pulp stump of 1 of 16 contralateral pairs of young premolars and Calxyl covered with zinc oxide and eugenol to the other. The quality of the bridge of healed dentine was better in teeth dressed with Calxyl and zinc oxide eugenol. Neither the size of the pulp nor the time elapsed from the onset of the treatment affected the quality of the bridge. In both experimental groups the deposition of reactionary dentine caused progressive narrowing of the root canals. This is in direct relation to the elasped time and may be considered an undesirable side-effect of Calxyl.
