Abstract
Research into bereavement, its effects, and factors associated with poor outcomes has become a topic of increasing interest in Israel. A comprehensive review shows that most such studies focus on the death of young men, and its effects on the mental health of their parents, spouses and children. Studies tend to be cross-sectional and frequently lacking control groups. Where examined, time elapsed since the loss did not relate to the health, although it was positivily related to that of children. Outher variables examined are sociodemographic, help-seeking behavior, and social support.
