Abstract
Seven cases of Legionnaires' disease were diagnosed by a microagglutination test using strain 'Philadelphia 1' as antigen. Among 176 acute pneumonias studied the incidence of the infection with Legionella pneumophila serotype 1 was 4%. The significance of the titers obtained with this test is discussed. Because of the late response in antibodies, the importance of the clinical diagnosis is underlined.
