Abstract

Long Bragg pulses were used to spectroscopically measure the first and zeroth order radial modes in the phonon spectrum of a Bose-Einstein condensate. These high-resolution measurements agree well with simulations of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The local density approximation failed to reproduce these multiple radial modes.
