Abstract

Citrobacter is a known pathogen in a number of superficial and deep infections in humans. It has been rarely associated with endocarditis, being described only once to our knowledge. These bacilli most often cause clinical infection in debilitated or otherwise chronically ill patients. We report a case of endocarditis caused by this pathogen in a young patient suffering from rheumatic heart disease.
