Abstract

Clinical research in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease requires outcomes that reflect pediatric specific qualities of the disease. Different clinical indices have subsequently been developed in pediatric cohorts including the Pediatric Crohn's disease activity index and the Pediatric ulcerative colitis activity index. Pediatric specific indices are not yet available for gastrointestinal endoscopy findings, perianal disease and post-operative disease so for the moment, adult indices are the reference standard in these areas.
