Abstract

This study reconsiders the hydrodynamic problem of drop collisions in a turbulent flow. A new approach for calculation of the collision efficiency of small Stokesean droplets within turbulent flows is proposed. The algorithm consists of two stages. First, relative velocities between drops of different radii separated by small distances are calculated at various points of turbulent flow. At the second stage, the relative velocities obtained from the first stage are used for calculation of the mutual motion of drops accompanied by their hydrodynamic interaction.
