Abstract

Results of recent studies on the mechanism of cellulose biosynthesis in higher plants (including cotton) and in the bacterium Acetobacter xylinum are compared and contrasted. This paper was presented at the Ninth Cellulose Conference sponsored by the Cellulose Research Institute, held in Syracuse, New York, USA, May 24-27, 1982.
