Abstract

A program currently being developed is designed to offer many options for computerized mapping of species distribution. The program is designed so that users who do not wish to use the standard geographical areas may utilize digitizers for areas of distribution which are then fed as input to the mapping progam. Field observations, the main source of data on plant distribution, are stored as discrete information and retrieved from the data base for each mapping. The program works interactively, to allow users unfamiliar with the system the opportunity to utilize it. Users are offered many options, among them the ability to 'zoom in' and graph only the area of the map containing plant distribution. -Authors
