Abstract

It has been well established that polyamines and diamines play an important role in controlling growth and differentiation processes. 1 - 5 Cellular polyamine levels may be regulated by their synthesis, excretion, or degradation. 6 - 7 While the biosynthetic enzymes, ornithine decarboxylase and S-adenosyl-l-methionine decarboxylase have been well characterized, 8 - 11 the nature and properties of the catabolic enzymes are only poorly understood.
