Abstract

Covariant equations for two scalar, two spinor and scalar plus spinor particles are derived from quantum electrodynamics by consideration of crossed and uncrossed graphs. The equations are symmetric in particle labels, and are invariant under charge conjugation, time reversal and parity transformations. They possess correct eikonal and infinite mass limits, even when the quasipotential, determined from QED, is truncated to lowest order. The negative-energy solutions have natural interpretations as positive-energy antiparticle solutions, z-graphs of the time-ordered perturbation theory are correctly incorporated with energy denominators, that describe propagation of virtual particle-antiparticle pair states.
