Abstract
Recent developments in the understanding of the critical behaviour of the resistance in magnetic materials are reviewed. This behaviour is determined by the electronic structure and the magnetic energy of the system. The calculated temperature and magnetic field dependences in the vicinity of the critical temperature, Tc, are found to be the same as those of the magnetic energy for ferromagnets, but are more complicated for antiferromagnets. The relevant experimental data are compared with the theoretical predictions and suggestions are made for improvement of the data analysis, in order to derive from it critical exponents and critical ratios.
