Crusader wall mosaics in the holy land. Gustav Kühnel's work in the church of the nativity in Bethlehem

This paper describes the personal contri bution of the late Professor Gustav Kuhnel (4.3.1942-10.7.2009) to the study of the Crusader wall paintings and mosaics in the church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Professor Kuhnel's study and his publications on the subject are indispensable to the field and attest to his deep and continuing endeavor concerning the complex questions posed by the Nativity church.
