Abstract
The observed increase in the apparent interlaminar shear strength of unidirectional Aramid composite samples with decrease in span-to-depth ratio is explained. The explanation is based on a development of a previous elastic-plastic model for Aramid composite beams. The usually quoted values of interlaminar shear strength for Aramid composites, as obtained from short-beam tests, are suspected of being too low, and equations are presented to calculate the real value of the interlaminar shear strength.
