Abstract

A linear relationship between the carbonate/hydrogencarbonate mole fraction in an aqueous solution and the chemical shift of the13C-n.m.r. peak has been established, and applied for the determination of the carbonate/hydrogencarbonate ratio, in solutions where the overall carbonate concentration is known and exceeds 0.05 M.
