Abstract

A common mineral geothermometer for eclogites is based on Fe2+-Mg exchange reaction between garnets and clinopyroxenes. For the accurate determination of Fe2+ in omphacites, ten omphacite samples were isolated from eight Sudetic eclogites and studied by electron microprobe and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Garnet-clinopyroxene equilibration temperatures for two Sudetic eclogites were calculated.
