Abstract

The article presents a personal narrative on the history of German-Israeli diplomatic relations after World War II. The social conditions of Germans in Israel are examined along with popular Israeli opinion of the German language. The author discusses the publications in German of Jewish authors including Moses Hess, Heinrich Graetz, and Theodor Herzl. The censorship of the German language within Israeli media is examined within the context of the trial of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann.
