Abstract

A detector comprising a phosphor scintillator which acts as a wavelength shifter and visible light detector was discussed. These detectors are used in soft X-ray and vacuum ultraviolet spectroscopy of magnetically confined fusion plasmas. Results showed improved plasma confinement, reduced core impurity content and thermal load on divertor plasma.
