Abstract
Aryl bromides are conveniently dehalogenated with benzyl alcohol and sodium hydroxide in a two-liquid phase system in the presence of a palladium-triphenylphosphine catalyst. Phase transfer catalysts have a significant effect on the efficiency of the hydrogenolysis.
