Dielectric nonlinearity in photorefractive spatial soliton formation was discussed. The system was described by a modified nonlinear equation that depended on the crystal temperature T and on the nature of the distant phase transition. It was found that the behavior of optical spatial screening solitons observed in the high-symmetry paraelectric phase was a result of nonlinear dielectric effects.
