Abstract
DTA patterns of samples from a residual profile of laterite (from Venezuelan Guayana) show mainly two strong endothermic peaks at about 300oC and 525oC, as well as an exothermic peak at about 985oC. Gibbsite as well as goethite contribute both to the endothermic effect appearing around 300oC. The exothermic peak as well as the 525oC endothermic peak are attributed to kaolinite. The shape of this peak is influenced by both the goethite and the gibbsite content.-from Authors
