Abstract
This chapter introduces the Hebrew University Bible Project, which aims to publish a diplomatic editio maior of the text of the Hebrew Bible, based on the Aleppo Codex (?), with variants from other textual witnesses recorded in a system of apparatuses. The readings collated in the edition are culled from a broad variety of sources, including the ancient translations, Dead Sea Scrolls, biblical quotations in rabbinic literature, and medieval Hebrew manuscripts, all of these covering a period of almost two millennia. The current article briefly describes the basic editorial principles of the edition, and demonstrates their implementation from a sample page taken from the Twelve Prophets volume (Zeph 1:1-5).
