Funding Information:We are very thankful for the support provided by the Binational Aquaculture Research Development Fund (BARD), which provided the funding that facilitated an atmosphere for collegiality and collaboration, intellectual exploration and growth, as well as long lasting friendships. BARD is a competitive funding program for mutually beneficial, mission-oriented, strategic and applied research of agricultural problems, jointly conducted by American and Israeli scientists. Most BARD projects focus on increasing agricultural productivity, particularly in hot and dry climates, and emphasize plant and animal health, food quality and safety, and environmental issues. This seminal symposium is seen as a first in a tradition of symposia, conferences and workshops focused on the “Endocrinology of cichlids”.
