Abstract
I cannot do justice to all the theoretical and empirical studies which are available for review because of the limited space provided for this chapter. The studies chosen follow both from personal and theoretical preferences which will hopefully do justice to what is becoming an important field of research and practice in Israel. The need to limit the review to those activities which are organized for Palestinians and Jews within the internationally recognized borders of the state of Israel slices the field to be covered in a justifiable way. The encounters conducted among Jews and Palestinians in the state of Israel take place between national groups which share the same citizenship and the same social, economic, and educational systems, living generally in peaceful, non-violent relations.
