Abstract
The response of human platelets to cardioactive factors extracted from dog ischemic pancreas was examined by electron microscopy and X-ray microanalysis. A decrease in calcium and phosphorus of the dense bodies, primary release, cell-shape changes and altered metal penetration occurred in the absence of aggregation. This partial activation of platelets may have clinical implications for the diagnosis and treatment of shock states.
