Abstract
The electro-optic spatial two-dimensional mode switching was demonstrated in a bulk sample of potassium lithium tantalate niobate. The mode coupling, spatial confinement, and electro-optic functionality were mediated by two photorefractive needle solitons of opposite electroholographic charges. The switching through vertically stacked oppositely charged needles was also presented.
